13.1 Magical Miles February 2016

So not so very bright and way too early we made our way to the Epcot parking lot.  First order of business was to find the shortest port-a-potty line.  Amanda was feeling very weak and queasy and it was becoming kind of clear that running 13.1 miles was not going to happen easily at the very least. And then I came out to find her laying on the floor :( She finally called it that running the race was just not going to happen.  It was such a hard and sad decision, but the only option really.  I went and found a medical person and Amanda was wheeled into the medical tent. So with a heavy heart I made my way over to our corral.  I honestly felt like crying.  I couldn't believe that this race we had been planning for so long wasn't going to happen with her.  However, I kept thinking about the total blast we had had already.  Getting to see HP for the first time with her was amazing! So it was time to face the race solo.  I...

Princess Half Marathon Expo

Saturday morning I woke up and ran to the grocery store to pick up sick person supplies for Amanda.  Her stomach was still very queasy, but she wasn't throwing up anymore so that was good!  By late morning, we had gotten ready and made our way over to the expo.  I had read horror stories of what the expo was like the first day (people go crazy for rundisney merchandise that sells out very quickly).  I was so happy to see such a calm environment.  That was definitely one advantage of doing the half as apposed to the whole Glass Slipper Challenge- we could wait until Saturday to go to the expo and pick up our packet. The red carpet walkway was fun! It was nice just perusing around a bit.  I picked up my pre-order jacket which I was happy with (I had planned for this to be my jacket on vacation).  I also pre-ordered a cup, a pin, and a car magnet.  The car magnet was super ugly so I decided to buy a different magnet, because I really wanted...

Big Cottonwood Canyon Half Marathon September 2015

Last Friday it was packet pick up day!  They had a fun backdrop to take pictures in front.  These great ladies are why I signed up for this race to being with!  It's been fun running with them. And then sure enough, dark and early, it was time to run my race!  I got picked up at 4:15am (ouch!).  We drove over to where the buses would drive us up the canyon and then wrapped in our mylar blankets and throw away sweats we waited for the race to begin! It was a super weird beginning.  There was no one on a bullhorn or no starting sound.  All of a sudden we realized that people way ahead had started running and the race was underway haha It was a beautiful course.  This is from the website, " Runners are set to experience an elevation drop of more than 3,000 feet as they descend through Big Cottonwood Canyon on their way from the mountains into the city  ."   Finished! Since it was so downhill, I had no troub...
