First 5K May 2009

I finally ran my first 5K today. It was so much fun; I loved it. My goal was to run the whole thing, and happily I accomplished that. I was a little nervous because a) I decided not to listen to music during the race because it's frowned upon and I never ever workout without music and b) half of the race is a really steep incline up to the temple and that is HARD for me! I guess my competitive spirit kicked in a bit- that definitely helped. Anyway it was a great experience, and I'm excited for the one I'm doing on the 4th of July which will thankfully, be a flat course :) It was so much fun seeing Erik, Jackson, and Wyatt just as I crested the top of the hill.
There was really loud music playing in the park at the after-shin dig. When that song "Mercy" came on Jackson got really excited and said, "Mom it's our song!" That used to be a favorite around here.

Picking up my medal for 1st place in my age group. Isn't that hilarious?? The serious runners all do the 10K and half and full marathon, so it really wasn't a big deal. I was happy with my 28:14 time though (real runners, don't laugh!)

Wyatt loved his new toy the whole walk home!
