Harry Potter 5K August 2015
A couple of months ago Amanda sent me a text asking if I had heard about a Harry Potter 5K in Utah. I hadn't, but I loved the thought of doing that so I signed me and Jackson up!
It was very close in West Jordan which was nice. It was also so fun to see some of the runners decked out in different costumes (one girl was in a hot velvet Death Eater costume complete with a mask!)
I let Jackson use my little ipod. A couple of days before I put together a play list for him with all of his favorite songs: The themes from Harry Potter (naturally!), Jurassic Park, and Avengers, his favorite pop songs this summer (Dynamite, Honey I'm Good). Anyway, I told him we would do walk/run intervals one song of each. It worked out really well. And even though the course was kind of lame (just going on the path through this park 4 times), it was a fun race!
With our super cute medals!
The first thing Erik said when he met up with us was, "this is the nerdiest thing I have ever been to!" hahaha Yup, right up my alley!
Derrick met up with us during the race! He got there 15 minutes after the race started (lol), so he wasn't with us on the course very much (but since we were just going round and round in circle we caught up with each other a few times and chatted for a minute.
After the race they had the Provo Quidditch team (yup really a thing) on hand to teach people how to play. A visiting quidditch player from University of Texas (4 time Quidditch World Cup no less!) explained it all very clearly. And THEN he put on the snitch shorts! I just about died! It really was so funny.
